DR. STEVEN A. DEGROFF & WE, THE STAFF OF FAMILY EYE CARE
Believe that not all eyes are created equal and vision and eye health needs vary greatly among individuals based on their history, genetics, systemic and other unique conditions
Based on these truths, we believe that every individual has the right to the personal attention of a professional health care provider. We believe that you, our patient, also have the right to choose the provider for your healthcare. We do not support health management organizations that limit these rights.
We believe that each individual that comes to us for eye health and vision services is unique and has unique needs. We believe that each individual should be examined as thoroughly as the standard of care dictates and with the highest quality, most up-to-date testing that is available and indicated given the signs and symptoms presented.
We believe that each of our patients has the right to receive the best materials, medications and procedures available to meet his or her needs. We believe it is our job to present and discuss the various options of treatment available for our patient’s needs, so that an informed decision can be made by our patient based on these needs, the prognosis for success, and personal economic decisions. Any attempt by a health management organization to control these decisions is not in the best interest of you, our patient. Attempts by commercial entities to bait consumers into their facilities with misleading advertising is also against the best interest of our patients.
We believe that just compensation should be afforded the provider in order to maintain the state of the art equipment and materials and training of support staff necessary to provide the highest level of care now and to plan to continue the same into the future.
We do not support health management organizations that reimburse providers at such a low level that quality time, staff, services, materials, equipment, and instrumentation can not be provided given these imposed economics constraints.
We believe that prescription eye care products are best dispensed in a professional setting where the finest quality control can be attained and maintained, not through the mail or in aggressively merchandised, commodity-like environments where business revenues rather than what is best for the health of the eyes of our patients becomes paramount.
We believe that if a diagnosis requires a referral to a specialist, given your particular case, our experience and our knowledge of the intricacies of the various medical sub-disciplines, including the experience levels of the specialist providers, we should be able to discuss with you and give our opinion of who would be the best source to consult for your given situation. We believe that any attempted control of your referral by a health management organization is not in the best interest of you, our patient.
IT IS WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THIS DOCTRINE THAT WE WILL PROVIDE CARE TO OUR PATIENTS. THIS WILL BE DONE AS COURTEOUSLY, TIMELY AND ECONOMICALLY AS WE CAN GIVEN TODAY’S CURRENT STATE OF THE BUSINESS OF HEALTH CARE DELIVERY.
We recognize that you, our patient, could go anywhere for your eye care.
THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING US TO SERVE YOU!
